I have a great recipe for making my own ginger beer but because I’m diabetic I don’t get to enjoy it often (I’ve tried making it with sugar substitutes but it’s not nearly as good). I also enjoy making my own kombucha which I drink for the health benefits more than the taste. Since the sugar is consumed as kombucha ages, it occurred to me that I could try to combine the two. So now I’m making ginger beer flavored kombucha and I can hardly wait for the first batch to be ready. I wonder if it’s ready yet. How about now? How about now? This is going to be a long two weeks.
I’ve been giggling at myself all afternoon because of how excited I got over the delivery of six Grolsch flip-top beer bottles for aging my kombucha. As soon as the bottles arrived, I strained and bottled the Ginger & Lime flavored batch I had started. One of the bottles wasn’t full so I got to taste it. In my opinion it turned out pretty good which is all that matters because I’m making it for myself. Now I need to find a local source of fresh sushi.
After I got the kombucha in the bottles something finally occurred to me. It might cost less to buy beer in the flip-top bottles and let my brother drink it for me and just keep the bottles. Called my brother, he said he could do that for me. Sometimes I forget what a great family I have.
