I get to buy whatever groceries I want and cook what I like. Even better my parents don’t mind trying new foods (not too new) and are OK with me experimenting. I LIKE experimenting; so I’m having a blast. I’ve been surprised to find out that I spend more time and take more care to do things well for my parents than I would for myself.
Even better than all this freedom is the time I get to spend with my parents. I’ve been getting to know some of their quirks, likes, dislikes and dreams (still held and forgotten). I’m even starting to see them as real people and not just how I remember them from my childhood. Although I look forward to the traveling I get to do when my time here is done, I’m thoroughly enjoying this time I get with my parents. I know how fortunate I am to still have both my parents and to have this time with them.
